Six days means a serious safari with lots of time to explore Kenya’s best parks – mountains, lakes, towering cliffs, and sweeping savannahs, and all the wildlife they hold. This Africa safari is designed to view the big game like lions and leopards but also get you up close to the grazing animals – gazelle, antelope, giraffe, and zebra. By jeep, boat, foot, and even bicycle, we’ll give you a rich taste of the natural world in its wondrous variety.
No one leaves Amboseli National Park without photos and memories of the big-tusked, free-ranging elephants that dominate this reserve set near the foot of world-famous Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Lake Naivasha is a peaceful celebration of birdlife, hippos, and grazing antelope on the shore. We’ll take an easy sailing safari across the lake and then move on to neighboring Lake Nakuru National Park – home to leopards, rhinos, and… pink flamingoes. We’ll also explore, by foot or bicycle, the canyons and steaming vents of the nearby aptly named Hell’s Gate National Park.
Then we’ll journey to Masai country and Kenya’s premier park, the Masai Mara. Known as the richest ecosystem in the region, if not Africa, the reserve explodes with wildlife during the Great Migration. It’s a spectacle of herding animals unmatched on the planet.
What’s Cool About These Parks?
Mt. Kilimanjaro’s snowy summit seen from Amboseli is one of Africa’s most iconic sights. And this park is alive with all of Africa’s “Big Five” game.
For sheer variety and beauty, nothing beats Lake Nakuru – acacia forests, waterfalls, and a shoreline dappled with pink flamingoes.
Tens of thousands of wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle stream through the Masai Mara… and the big cats that love them – lions, leopards, cheetahs, and more. The plains and hills of the Mara are a stage for nature’s explosive drama playing out before our eyes.

Day 1
Nairobi – Amboseli
4 Hour Drive
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will swing by your hotel, residence, or the Nairobi airport for an early pick up in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Then we’ll turn toward the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway and make tracks for Amboseli Park.
Enjoy the morning sun lighting up the passing farms and we might even spot Masai herdsmen tending to their cattle.
We’ll soon see towering Mt. Kilimanjaro rising in the distance, our beacon to the park.
Amboseli and lunch beckon – we’ll refresh and set out for our first game drive. Under the gaze of the mighty mountain, we’ll track for the park’s famous elephants, along with lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, and zebra.
As evening approaches look toward the big mountain – the cloud cover near the summit may clear, revealing its snowy peak.
Dinner and rest will be at our Amboseli accommodation.

Day 2
Amboseli – Lake Naivasha
6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
We’ll start this adventurous day with a sunrise game drive to soak up the park’s early light and the first stirrings of its wildlife.
Breakfast follows and then more tracking for lion, cheetah, hyena, fox, baboon, and of course, the park’s signature elephants.
We might drive up to the suitably named Observation Hill, a great lookout point to see view more wildlife and the rich array of birdlife – crake, egret, heron, falcon, pelican, and eagle have all been spotted here in significant numbers.
Then it’s time to hit the road and journey out to Lake Naivasha through the Great Rift Valley. We’ll settle in at the lake and enjoy lunch.
Even been on a bicycle safari? Nearby Hell’s Gate Park provides an opportunity to pedal past grazing zebra, buffalo, antelope, and giraffe. Your path will take you through the park’s colorful canyons and imposing cliffs.
Now it’s time to rest up and head back to your Naivasha safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 3
Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru
1 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Who’s up for a sailing safari across Lake Naivasha? We’ll glide past hippos and the wildlife emerging nearby on the shore. Then, we’re off on a guided walking safari at neighboring Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a haven for birdlife and gentle wildlife like waterbuck, zebra, and gazelle.
It’s a short drive to Lake Nakuru, a small jewel of a park with waterfalls, acacia forests, and the high-altitude lake. You may find dazzling pink flamingoes decorating its shores. And its rich forests hold lots of surprises like giraffes, baboons… even leopards. Be sure to explore the rhino sanctuary here for a glimpse of these unique and shy creatures.
Dinner will be served at your Lake Nakuru accommodation.

Day 4
Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara
6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
We’re up early to go birding or wildlife viewing in this versatile park. Besides the big game, large snakes have been spotted here, hanging from trees in the wooded areas!
But now it’s time to head back to Masai country and visit Kenya’s most popular park, the Masai Mara.
Arriving at the park, viewing its rolling hills, a feeling of expectation will surely arise as your guide talks about the many prides of lions and other bountiful wildlife that make the Mara their home.
Known as the richest ecosystem in the region, the Masa Mara will provide many sightings of the big cats and uncountable wildebeests and zebras.
We’ll settle into our Mara accommodation for the evening and rest up for a full day of game drives.

Day 5
Full Day at the Masai Mara
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
This is the day to do as much game driving as you please. Talk to your guide about what areas of the park you’d like to visit – he’ll have plenty of suggestions.
The area is rich with wildlife so you should be spotting the big game and smaller species like hyena and jackal before long.
Lunch will be served picnic-style down at the Mara River – the crossing site of the Great Migration. Should you be here from July to October you’ll have a front-row seat to an incredible influx of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, topi, and others pouring in from the Serengeti.
It’s a display of breathtaking power – both of the invading grazers and the predators awaiting their arrival. Here are the forces of nature playing out right before our eyes.
To witness this spectacle from above, take advantage of our optional pre-dawn hot air balloon safari. As the park awakens, you’ll rise above the savannah to see the great streams of wildlife trekking out to the horizon. Unforgettable.
We also offer an optional visit to the local Maasai people in one of their nearby villages. Meet the original people of this area and learn about their culture and herding lifestyle.
As the sun begins to wane, we’ll head back to our Mara accommodation for dinner and some relaxation time.

Day 6
Masai Mara – Nairobi
6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
The last day of our African safari in Kenya! Let’s make the most of our time with an early game drive and grab all the animal sightings we can.
We’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast at our accommodation and a final viewing of the park as we depart for Nairobi.
We should arrive there about 4:30 pm and bring you to your residence, hotel, or airport.
Lakes, mountains, woods, savannah… and all the wildlife they could possibly hold. We hope you enjoyed every minute of your safari in Africa. And we enjoyed hosting you! From the entire team at Africa Kenya Safaris, a big thanks for your time, interest, and trust.
