A NIGHT IN NAIROBI
Incredible Sunsets. Incredible Nightlife
Welcome to Nairobi! We can’t wait to meet you right at the airport at our new kiosk, Safari Gateway, or we’ll see you at our offices in town for your safari prep.
But before you head out on your adventure, you might want to look over the many fun activities to see right here in town. Like visiting the Giraffe Centre, the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or the world’s only wildlife park right next to a world-class city, Nairobi National Park.
However, most visitors don’t know that Nairobi is also a busy, lit-up nightlife scene of restaurants, clubs, discos, cabarets, and more.
At Africa Kenya Safaris, our chief mission is to share Africa’s incredible parks and wildlife. But before or after your safari, we would love to show you our big city lights to complete your Kenya experience.
We can create a personalized nightlife package of select spots that will suit your taste, style, budget, and interests. Just look over the many listings below and when we meet, we can design your customized Night in Nairobi
The Best Sunsets
Happily for anyone in Nairobi, before the coming of the dark night are the famous and spectacular Nairobi sunsets. Some say their blaze is due to the city being on the equator; others attribute the painted skies of brilliant reds and oranges because of the dust settling in the atmosphere.
Either way, we can begin your Night in Nairobi with a beautiful sunset at any of these perfect vantage points:
Overlooking Nairobi National Park and the Mbagathi River, the Lodge offers its lucky visitors a swimming pool, international cuisine, and lots of monkeys, in addition to the sight of a gorgeous setting sun flooding the park with its layered orange hues.
Catch the setting sun from the heart of the city at this fashionable lounge. With views of Nairobi’s skyline and the National Park, enjoy a cocktail as you watch the day’s last light fade into the horizon.
Want to soak up the active day and nightlife in Kenya’s capital city? A walk down Nairobi’s busiest streets is a humming exploration of shops, stalls, restaurants, hotels, bars, and other busy folks.
Check out these thoroughfares for lots of colorful city action.
Named for one of Kenya’s founders, this is one of the city’s oldest and busiest streets. Located near the central business district you’ll encounter a humming scene of street life, eateries, nightclubs, and more.
One of the city’s old, distinguished boulevards, you’ll find the Jeevanjee Gardens – an open tranquil green space for anyone to stroll, sit, and relax. Other sites you’ll pass: the Khoja Mosque, Kenya Cinema, and Hilton Hotel. And at nighttime, the street buzzes with energy.
Dining In Nairobi
As an international world-class capital with multi-cultural influences, Nairobi offers its guests a wonderful variety of cuisines. Some you’ve undoubtedly sampled elsewhere… others you won’t find any place but Nairobi. Which leads us to the first restaurant on our list:
The name says it all at this internationally famous dining spot. Ostrich? Crocodile? Camel? You’ll find them all here on the menu, along with the expected beef and lamb. Roasted over charcoal on traditional Maasai swords and carved before you, enjoy your fill of impala, gazelle, giraffe… even chicken!
For 3600 nighttime views of Nairobi and internationally crafted cuisines, this dome-shaped venue is the perfect spot to relax. Try some of their Japanese or Peruvian fare for unexpected tastes as you gaze upon the city lights.
Care for a bit of the old-world clubby feel in which to enjoy your cocktail? Set in the Norfolk Hotel, going back to 1904, this attractive restaurant offers traditional steak and seafood, but also many international flavors.
Freshen Your Cocktail?
The bar and lounge scene in Nairobi varies from the refined leather and wood crowd, to cool jazz and reggae joints, to a high-octane party scene rocking to Latin and African music. Take your pick and we’ll take you there!
A big, blow-out party scene – a Cuban street bar meets Africa! The drinking and dancing happen on two floors, fueled with custom cocktails, Cuban cigars, and dishes from Central America. Easy to dance the night away here.
A kool, klassy klub where the crowd seems to dance all night long, seven nights a week. The music from international and local artists fills this large space with high energy and happy thoughts.
Originally set in Nairobi’s Stock Exchange and now residing in the Stanley Hotel, this ode to thick sofas and ceiling fans recalls a gentlemen’s club with its offerings of fine cigars and single malts. For a calmer old-school way to wind down your evening, this space recalls a different time in Africa’s history.
Views of the city, alfresco dining, lots of secluded lounging areas, and even a rooftop pool add to the sophisticated yet anything-goes atmosphere of this panoramic watering hole. Enjoy one of their specially designed cocktails as you gaze upon Nairobi’s glittering skyline.
The Safari Cat Dancers and Acrobats
Standing apart from the rest of the Nairobi night scene this cabaret show is a technicolor, beating onslaught of dancers, acrobats, and performers appearing nightly at the Nyama Choma Ranch, in the Safari Park Hotel.
The music, the dance, the drumming, and the sheer spectacle of an African cultural performance exploding before you make for an adrenaline-fueled hour that leaves visitors astonished. An incredible way to round out your night.
A Night in Nairobi? There’s no end to the possibilities, from dreamy sunsets to humming street scenes, from exotic dishes to cool hip lounges and fiery theater, our capital city will keep you buzzing and busy seven nights a week.
