- Nairobi-Kenya
- Amboseli National Park-Kenya
- Lake Manyara National Park-Tanzania
- Serengeti National Park - Tanzania
- Ngorongoro Crater - Tanzania
- Arusha (Tanzania) or Nairobi (Kenya)
We’ll pick you up in style – your own private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.
Kenya and Tanzania both have exciting reputations as safari hot spots. But you won’t have to choose which of these East African countries to visit for your safari with our Full-Week 2-country tour. You’ll enjoy both – captivating Amboseli Park in Kenya with its multitudes of big tuskers and Tanzania’s Serengeti with its unending plains alive with the big cats.
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most unique landforms on our planet – it’s the largest intact volcanic crater, hosting its own world of concentrated wildlife. And Lake Manyara National Park will dazzle with its celebration of thousands of flaming pink flamingoes!
This richly detailed 7-day safari begins in Nairobi and heads to Amboseli at the foot of majestic, snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. Then, we’ll journey to Tanzania, exploring the wonders at Lake Manyara and stopping at Olduvai Gorge, the finest preserved site of pre-historic man.
Serengeti and Ngorongoro will follow and thrill with their dense concentrations of the big game – lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo, elephants, and hundreds of more species that will wrap you in a total safari experience.
What’s Cool About These Parks?
Amboseli is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. Why? It could be the almost limitless herds of elephants parading by the scenic frame of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Or, perhaps it’s the large game that’s so abundant in this small but active park.
Lake Manyara is colorfully alive with pelicans, flamingoes, and other vibrant avian life all along the lake area. But just as special, the park is famous for its unbelievable tree-climbing lions. And don’t miss the baboons!
Have you heard of the Serengeti? It’s just about the most famous wildlife park in Africa and you may be overwhelmed by the numbers of wildlife inhabiting its vast plains. Over 3,000 lions, uncountable wildebeest, and zebra, plus hyena, wolf, baboon, and monkey.
As you stand at the crater’s rim at Ngorongoro and take in the immense green world stretching out to the horizon, you’ll know this safari day is going to be special. In your 4 x 4 Jeep, you’ll descend the crater’s walls to enter an environment dense with wildlife – lions, rhino, buffalo, zebra, eland, hippo, and even pink flamingoes near and in the crater’s lakes.

You’ll head out over African savannah, passing homesteads and coming to Maasai country, spotting the Maasai herders with their cattle.
We should arrive at the park in the late morning and enjoy freshening up and lunch at our Amboseli accommodation.
We’ll hop into our 4 x 4 Jeep for the first game drive of our safari, tracking for lion, giraffe, zebra, warthog, ostrich, and buffalo just for starters.
But you won’t have to drive or track too long before spotting the park’s famous herds of elephants. They are so plentiful here you are guaranteed sightings.
You can’t miss the looming presence of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the largest mountain in Africa. Toward evening, the clouds covering its snow-capped peak may part, revealing its iconic summit.
We’ll return to our Amboseli accommodation to rest and enjoy our first safari dinner.

Day 2
Full Day at Amboseli Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We are living the safari life! So that means we’re up with the birds or possibly before them to enjoy an early pre-breakfast game drive through the awakening park.
After breakfast, we’ll set out on the first of many drives today looking for elephants, lions, buffalo, rhino, antelope, gazelle, warthog, and much more.
We’ll head up Observation Hill to stretch our legs as we survey the park in all directions. From this great vantage point we’ll see elephants at their watering holes and exotic birds like the Egyptian goose.
In the late afternoon, we may see the snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro peaking through the surrounding cloud cover just in time for sunset.
Dinner and relaxation call at our Amboseli safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 3
Amboseli Park – Lake Manyara
5 - 6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You know the look and feel of Amboseli in the early morning – it’s a beautiful, peaceful time. So let’s take another pre-breakfast game drive through the park tracking for lion, leopard and the many grazers to be found here.
We’ll enjoy a final game drive as we exit the park and head for Tanzania. Arriving at the border town of Namanga, we’ll go through immigration formalities, then switch out our Jeep and meet our new Tanzania guide.
This is Maasai country and we may spot the Maasai herders with their cattle along the road. Stopping in the town of Arusha, we’ll take a rest and lunch break.
Soon we’ll arrive at Lake Manyara, a small but attractive park. Known for its startling tree-climbing lions and dazzling flocks of pink flamingoes, you’ll be fascinated and charmed by this unusual reserve.
We’ll head to our Lake Manyara accommodation for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 4
Lake Manyara - Serengeti
4 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Lake Manyara is also known for its picture-postcard sunrises so take a moment to enjoy this splendid gift of the new day.
We’ll breakfast at our accommodation and then journey on to the Serengeti. En route, we’ll stop at the famous Olduvai Gorge. This is the well-preserved site of earliest man’s artifacts and we’ll learn how this archeological wonder was discovered.
Then we’ll come upon the vast expanse of the Serengeti plains, in time for an afternoon game drive.
From Lake Manyara to Olduvai Gorge to the Serengeti, it’s been a busy day with lots to talk about. We’ll settle into our accommodation to chat and enjoy our dinner.

Day 5

This will be a day of unlimited game drives.
The Serengeti is known throughout the world for its deep concentration of wildlife. It is estimated that the lion population here is between 3,000 – 4,000. The numbers of wildebeests and zebras are literally uncountable.
This is the place where the Great Migration begins – the annual trek of millions of grazers moving to an ancient instinct to herd and travel, in search of food and water.
Everything about the Serengeti is massive and awe-inspiring.
As late afternoon creeps up, we’ll head to our Serengeti safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 6
Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

We will take a final early morning game drive through the park and then point our 4 x 4 Jeep in the direction of our final destination, the Ngorongoro Crater.

We’ll head down the steep crater wall in our 4 x 4, landing in a colorful universe of big cats, rhino, buffalo, hippos, zebra, and colorful birds, including lots of fuchsia flamingoes!
The variety and density of wildlife here can be overwhelming.
Heading to Ngoitoktok Springs, we’ll enjoy views of water birds and hippos as we dig into our picnic lunch.
The afternoon will see us spotting ever more wildlife in this active, rich, green world.
Then toward evening, we’ll head back up the crater’s rim for a spectacular end to this amazing day – a magnificent sunset awaits us.
