DAY TRIPPING FROM NAIROBI

FULL DAY - 3 PARKS – BOATING & HIKING SAFARIS

Lakes Nakuru, Naivasha, & Crescent Island

Starting from/returning to Nairobi area hotels, airport, or location of your choice.

We’ll pick you up in style – your own private 4 x4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

Flamingos, pelicans, rhinos, giraffes, antelopes, and gazelles – it’s like your own private petting zoo! This one-day journey out of Nairobi will land you at two beautiful Rift Valley lakes and a private island alive with wildlife.

Your Africa Kenya Safaris guide will swing by at 5 am for an early pickup to begin a day filled with scenic and natural surprises.

Lake Nakuru National Park is known to glow with the colors of deep pink flamingoes, sparkling waterfalls, and deeply wooded forest. You’ll find rhinos and monkeys… and maybe lion and leopard at this beautiful park.

Nearby Lake Naivasha hosts hippos, crocs, and a water safari taking you sailing across this deep blue Rift Valley lake. More treats – acacia forests and flower farms gracing the lake as you watch for buffalo, impala, zebra, and more.

Then we’re off to the private sanctuary reserve of Crescent Island for a special walk amongst zebras, giraffes, impalas, and great colorful flocks of birdlife.

And since you got up so early, we’ll fortify you with breakfast on the way to the parks.

Lake Nakuru National Park

With its lions, flamingoes, rhinos, and Rothschild’s giraffes, Lake Nakuru is a stunning microcosm of the whole of Africa. Besides the colorful variety of wildlife, you’ll see tall, rocky escarpments, waterfalls, and verdant acacia forests. It’s hard to believe all this natural drama is so close to the city.

Check out the names of the park’s favorite animal-spotting viewpoints – Baboon Cliff, Lion Hill, and Out of Africa. True to the viewpoints’ names you’ll look for monkeys, baboons – some 56 species of mammals, and over 450 types of birdlife.

We’ll visit the local hippos, pelicans, kingfishers, and sometimes if the conditions are right, brilliant pink flamingoes who feed on the algae blooms in the deep blue alkaline water.

Seeing rhinos anywhere is a special treat and you’ve come to the best spot in Kenya to look upon these imposing but endangered creatures. We’ll visit the park’s rhino sanctuary where you’ll get views of the dozens of black and white rhinos thriving in this protected zone.

Care for a walk in the woods? A visit to Nakuru’s thick acacia forest may reward you with views of impala, waterbuck, and if you are really lucky – a large python hanging from a tree branch above!

After all that wildlife viewing it’s time for lunch. We’ll pause to enjoy a buffet at one of the park’s lodges.

Fast & Flexible

At AKS you write the rules. Travel and explore at your own pace in you own way. We’re fast, flexible, and always ready to respond to your requests. Book in advance or even the day before. We’ll get you out on safari – pronto!

Lake Naivasha

Ever been to two Rift Valley lakes in one day? You can compare the vistas of these different high-altitude lakes. Lake Naivasha is fresh water, so the look here is a bit different, as is the birdlife. But like Lake Nakuru, Naivasha is blessed with a pleasing variety of landscapes – acacia forest, nearby flower farms, extinct volcanoes, and even waterfalls.

Hop into our boat for a lazy sailing safari across the lake as we drift past bathing hippos, looking for zebra, giraffe, and antelope along the nearby shore. What a peaceful way to digest your lunch while soaking up the delights of this graceful park.

As your boat glides along you’re sure to spot some of Naivasha’s dense avian life – eagles, weavers, buzzards, kingfishers, and many more. But don’t miss the nearby forest which holds plenty of zebra and giraffe surprises.

Stay Connected or Not. Your Choice.

We realize you’re on safari to get away from the usual. Still, there are times you may want to go online… perhaps to share your photos and adventures with friends. Our safari vehicles connect with Wi-Fi, about 75% of the time so you can usually connect when you want.

Crescent Island Game Sanctuary

You can leave most tourists behind at this small, private refuge. We’ll take a guided walking tour along the shore and hills of Crescent Island to visit the buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, and other gently grazing wildlife. This petite island holds more animals per acre than any other Kenya park.

Our walk along the shore will bring us close to hippos, pelicans, cormorants, and a world of other birdlife. The feeling here is of your own private sanctuary.

Now it’s time to kick back with some coffee or a soft drink for the easy ride to Nairobi. We’ll have you at your hotel or place of your choosing by 7:00 pm.

Join us for Africa Kenya Safaris’ getaway to these high mountain lakes where you’ll trek, sail and soak up the colors and wildlife of this special region. Please contact us here and we’ll get your mini-Africa safari up and running.

Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, & Crescent Island Day Tour

5:00 am – It’s an early start but we’ve got lots to see today. Africa Kenya Safaris will pick you up from your hotel or pickup spot of your choice. Along our scenic route, we’ll stop for breakfast and get ready for a very full day.

It will still be early when we arrive at Lake Nakuru, plenty of time to see the morning light pour onto the forests and watch the birdlife sprinkled about. We’ll go on our first game drive looking for buffalo, lion, zebra, gazelle, baboon, giraffe, and so much more.

On the Rift Valley lake, we’ll keep an eye out for pelicans and the signature avian life of this park – flocks of pink flamingoes.

Then we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch at a nearby safari lodge before heading to Lake Naivasha with its complement of birdlife and small game. We’ll settle in for a boat safari across the lake, visiting hippos and enjoying the serenity of this natural location.

Rounding out our triple park day is a visit to the private sanctuary of Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, where a naturalist will take us on a guided walking safari. Expect to come upon grazing gazelle, giraffe, zebra, antelope, impala, dik-dik, and other species.
