Starting from Nairobi area hotels, airport, or location of your choice.

Finishing up by luxury train to Diani Beach on the Kenya Coast.

You can also request drop-off at Mombasa, Kilifi, Malindi & Watamu.

We’ll pick you up in style – your own private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

Which park suits your fancy – the great herds of red-dusted elephants at legendary Tsavo East or the rolling hills, springs, and rhinos of Tsavo West? Both sister parks feature plenty of lions, giraffes, buffalos, and zebras. It’s just a matter of personal preference – you get to choose at Africa Kenya Safaris.

This three-day Nairobi to the Kenya coast safari begins at popular Amboseli Park, known as the “land of the giants”. Seated near the base of iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is home to numerous herds of free-ranging elephants. Their numbers are so great you are guaranteed plenty of sightings.

Then, it’s on to either one of the Tsavo parks. They’re big and filled with lions, leopards, elephants, and many smaller species. Tsavo East impresses with its big sky and endless plains. Next door at Tsavo West, you’ll find lush Mzima Springs and a unique rhino sanctuary.

Either way, this tour will give you a taste of Africa’s interior of rich wildlife before whisking you off to Diani Beach at Kenya’s stunning coast.

What’s Cool About These Parks?

Get your camera ready at Amboseli – the combination of plentiful elephants parading before the snow-capped form of Mt. Kilimanjaro is a picture-perfect setting. This small but popular park offers active displays of wildlife throughout its compact but pretty landscapes.

Should you choose to visit Tsavo East, you’ll see the curious effect of huge elephants giving themselves a bath in the red-oxide soil and walking off displaying their new rosy makeover!

At neighboring Tsavo West a stop at Mzima Springs will bring a cool, green respite where you’ll be able to stroll its lush banks, spotting crocodiles and great hippos. A visit to the park’s rhino sanctuary, home to over 80 of the huge but gentle beasts is an unusual treat.

Day 1

Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

4-Hour Drive

Meals: Lunch & Dinner

7:30 am  You’ll begin your adventure as your driver/guide swings by your hotel or residence in a private, 4 x4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop in and let’s rumble down the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway to the park.

Along the way, you’ll head into the African savanna and possibly view Maasai herders shepherding their cattle.

Before too long you’ll see the great form of Mt. Kilimanjaro rising in the distance, guiding our way. We’ll arrive at the park late morning and head to our safari lodge or tented camp for lunch before heading out for the first game drive.

Amboseli is known for being perhaps the best place in Africa for viewing elephants up close. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to see them as well as lion, leopard, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, cheetah, ostrich, and warthog.

But wherever you go in the park, you can’t miss all 19,000 feet of Kilimanjaro standing sentry over the wildlife, a photographic icon you’ll be drawn to again and again.

If we’re lucky, the clouds obscuring the mountain’s peak will part revealing one of Africa’s treasures.

Your first safari night will be spent at Amboseli, at the lodge, or tented camp of your choice.

Day 2

Amboseli – Tsavo East or Tsavo West

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We’ll be up early to continue our exploration of the park as the morning light welcomes us and the wildlife. Besides the larger species, we will also be looking for active smaller animals like hyena, fox, jackal, monkey, baboon.

Observation Hill is a favorite lookout over the park’s marshes and all the wildlife they support.

A favorite activity here is an optional visit to a local Maasai village. Meet with these indigenous people, learn about their ancient herding culture, and perhaps visit their homes.

Now it’s your choice of a Tsavo Park – East or West.

Tsavo East- This is a huge park of rugged terrain but busy with wildlife. A great way to spot that wildlife is by visiting the known watering holes like Aruba Dam or Mudanda Rock. The elephants and other thirsty animal populations flock here to slake their thirst.

During your three-day safari be sure to talk to your safari guide about the park, the wildlife, and any special requests you may have.

Sunsets are special at Tsavo East and you’ll enjoy yours as you head back to your new accommodation here to spend the evening.

Or, you can choose to visit Tsavo West

Tsavo West is easy on the eyes with its rolling green hills, woodlands, and riverine forest. After settling in at your new accommodation we’ll head out to look for lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, ostrich, and more.

We’ll also visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, home to over 80 of the endangered species, where you’ll get a chance to see these curious animals.

This diverse park is punctuated by exotic baobab trees and ancient solidified lava flows. Perhaps most unique of all is the presence of Mzima Springs, an unexpected oasis of greenery, fish, and birds. Here, we’ll also find crocodiles and hippos swimming in an immense pool.

We’ll wind up our second safari day at our Tsavo West Accommodation.

Day 3

Tsavo East or West – Kenya Coast

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

From Tsavo East:

We’ll take a final game drive through the park looking to spot any wildlife we may have missed. Then it’s on to the train station at Voi to board the Madaraka Express to the Kenya Coast.

This new high-speed train is built for air-conditioned comfort with soft reclining seats. Your large picture windows will provide colorful vistas of Tsavo East’s great plains and its wildlife.

Should you be hungry or want to stretch your legs, visit the buffet car for drinks and snacks. You’ll soon arrive at the modern train station in Mombasa.

What a great way to experience Africa – a private 4 x 4 Jeep to active and scenic parks and then a bonus rail safari to finish up at the beautiful Kenya coast. We hope you had a spectacular time. Thanks so much for joining us and hope to see you soon!
