- Nairobi
- Masai Mara
- Lake Nakuru
- Amboseli
- Tsavo West
- Diani Beach
You can see a lot in six days and this popular Africa safari tour will take you from lions to rhinos, elephants to crocodiles. You’ll encounter herds of wildebeests, flamingoes, monkeys, and baboons in savannahs, acacia woods, and deep green oases.
Join us as we head through Maasai country to the great Masai Mara Reserve, home to lion, leopard, cheetah, and uncountable wildlife. You can meet the local villagers and sail above the park in a hot air balloon safari.
We’ll switch gears at pretty little Lake Nakuru with its ornate birdlife, giraffes, and endangered rhinos waiting for your discovery. Want to see a family of elephants parade past the tallest massif in Africa? Our next stop is Amboseli Park, home to great herds of the majestic creatures, bordering the stunning backdrop of mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Our fourth park, Tsavo West, is also home to legendary lions, hippos, crocs, and rhinos. This is an unusual place adorned with bizarre baobab trees and great lava formations. The four parks present the greatest array of Kenya’s wildlife and landforms. And when we finish at Tsavo West, we’ll speed through the park on the way to the sunny coast at Diani Beach. What a way to end a safari and continue a holiday.
What’s Cool About These Parks?
If you’ve ever heard of the Great Migration (and even if you haven’t) you’ll be astonished at the volume of herding wildlife flooding into the Masai Mara. This is a yearly event (July – October) that will have you wildly snapping pictures… to prove it really happened.
Lake Nakuru is a little paradise filled with exotic birdlife like pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, herons, and sometimes dazzling fuchsia flamingoes. Besides being the easiest place to spot stately elephants, Amboseli Park hosts all of the big game. Being compact in size, you won’t have to travel far to find them.
Hippos, crocodiles, legendary lions, and rhinos – Tsavo West is a rolling mix of plains, hills, and, unexpected lush oases. The perfect finale to this rich and diverse safari.

Day 1
Nairobi – Masai Mara
5 – 6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
5:00 am This is an early start to get you to the Masai Mara with plenty of time for game drives. Your Africa Kenya Safari driver/guide will swing by your hotel, residence, or place of your choosing to start your journey.
Hop into your private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep to begin your trip to Maasai country. On the way, you’ll pass small farms as we head through the Great Rift Valley. We’ll make rest stops and take in the great landforms of the towering valley escarpments. And we might pass Maasai herdsmen tending to their cattle.
We’ll get to the park around lunchtime. So settle into your safari lodge or tented camp and refresh before heading out for the first of our many game drives over the next six days.
Congratulations – you’ve made it to one of the most famous wildlife parks in the world. These lands are home to numerous prides of lions, plus leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and dozens of grazers like buffalo, zebra, and gazelle.
In the late afternoon, we’ll head back to our accommodation to relax, enjoy dinner, and refresh for the day ahead.

Day 2
Full-Day at the Masai Mara
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
There’s a reason the Masai Mara is Kenya’s most popular reserve – it is blessed with the richest concentration of wildlife in the region. The big cats and all the other large wildlife grace these hills and golden savannahs.
You’ll appreciate this density of species as you travel the park in your 4 x 4.
And during the season of the Great Migration (July – October) prepare to witness the most dramatic movement of animals anywhere. Down at the Mara River, wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle by the thousands flood into the park in their yearly trek for vegetation.
Anticipating their arrival are great numbers of crocodiles in the river as well as every sort of predator in the hills – lions, leopards, cheetahs – all engaged in nature’s never-ending cycles.
We offer opportunities to view this natural spectacle from high above in a hot air balloon. This optional safari will have you rising with the sun as the park comes alive showing off its vibrant wildlife. Just ask your guide about this unforgettable option.
While at the park you can also take an optional visit to the local Maasai people. Travel to their nearby village to meet and learn about the traditional Maasai way for a different sort of cultural moment.
Toward evening, we’ll head back to our Mara accommodation for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 3
Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru
6 – 7 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
We’ll leave the Mara early in anticipation of our drive today. Still, on our way out of the park, we’ll be looking for that last lion or cheetah.
Along the way to Lake Nakuru, we’ll make plenty of stops to stretch, eat, and enjoy the vistas our route offers us.
Nakuru is a small gem of a park with its striking variety of landscapes accompanied by a similar diversity of wildlife. On the lake, in the acacia woods, by the waterfalls and towering escarpments, you’ll make discoveries like Rothschild’s giraffe, zebra, hippo, waterbuck, monkey, and baboon.
The lake and its shores offer a gift of varied birdlife – everything from kingfishers, ostriches, and storks to dazzling pink flamingoes.
This is also one of the few parks where rhinos play a significant role because of the sanctuary here protecting a large population of black rhinos.
Nakuru is a respite of nature at its most colorful and varied – a spot where you can soak it all in and relax.
We’ll enjoy dinner at our safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 4
Lake Nakuru – Amboseli
7 – 8 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
We’ll be up early for today’s dedicated trip to Amboseli Park. But we’ll divide the day into scenic and fun rest stops along the way. We’ll break to rest, admire the views of the Great Rift Valley with plenty of time to eat, and enjoy our adventure.
As we make our way to the park, you’ll notice the mighty form of world-famous Mt. Kilimanjaro rising in the distance, almost like a guide, drawing us to our next park.
Amboseli is a special place – where else can you be guaranteed plentiful sightings of free-ranging elephants? Their numbers are great here and you’ll enjoy watching the big, majestic families lumbering to their watering holes while Kilimanjaro serves as their scenic backdrop.
Besides all the large wildlife, Amboseli also holds signature marshes that afford viewings of birdlife like pelican and Egyptian goose.
Toward evening we’ll head to our Amboseli accommodation with the possibility of viewing Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit as the high-altitude clouds clear.

Day 5
Amboseli – Tsavo West
2-hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
We’ll take a last look at Amboseli, its elephant families, and great Mt. Kilimanjaro as we depart the park for the short drive to Tsavo West.
Tsavo’s green rolling hills are a welcoming sight and the curious lava formations that punctuate the park are an unusual curiosity. This is a large park that hosts all of Africa’s “Big Five”, so we’ll be tracking lion, leopard, elephant, and rhino.
And we’re certain to make a stop at the park’s lush oasis, Mzima Springs, a verdant spot fed by thousands of gallons of freshwater. You’ll see bathing hippos and crocodiles lazing about. Walk along the palm-fringed shores and look for exotic migratory birds and fish.
It’s also a favorite watering spot for thirsty elephants, giraffes, hartebeests, gazelles, and zebras.
We’ll spend one final safari evening at our Tsavo West accommodation.

Day 6
Tsavo West – Kenya Coast/Diani Beach
4.5-Hour Train Ride
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
We’ll be up for another short game drive before departing for the train station at Mtito Andei. But there will be more safari viewing from the train that takes us through Tsavo West and Tsavo East Parks on the Madaraka Express as we head to the Kenya Coast.
At the train station, your guide will assist with your ticketing, ensuring you’re comfortably onboard. Settle into your air-conditioned first-class seat as you watch the parks fly by. In just a few hours you’ll arrive in Mombasa.
Six days, four great parks – you’ve experienced every sort of landscape hosting a world of colorful wildlife. We hope you took lots of pictures and memories to share your safari back home. From the team at Africa Kenya Safaris, a big thanks for your time and trust. Asante!
