5 DAYS, 3 PARKS TANZANIA WILDLIFE SAFARI
Start Your Safari at Either Lake Manyara or Tarangire Park
Then: Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti National Park
Starting from/returning to Arusha area hotels or the location of your choice.
This all-inclusive 5-day safari starts with a choice: You can visit either the beautiful jewel that is Lake Manyara Park or the low-tourist, elephant-rich park of Tarangire. Either is a treat and you can learn more about both below.
On route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we’ll stop at another world-significant site, the Olduvai Gorge, perhaps the most significant anthropological site on Earth. Here were discovered thousands of artifacts of early humankind’s evolution – tools and fossilized bones dating back millions of years.
Our African safari moves us on to one of the most animal-dense spots on the planet, the Ngorongoro, featuring the world’s largest intact volcanic crater. We’ll stand at the crater’s rim and take in the great caldera below, dense with every sort of wildlife – lions to hippos to flamingoes. We’ll spend a day down in the depths of this rich habitat, cut off from the rest of Africa, exploring its vast universe of wildlife.
Finally, our 5-day adventure lands us on the plains of Tanzania’s largest park, the great Serengeti. This vast ecosystem is one of the richest and most varied on the continent – incredible herds of wildebeests, and an immense population of lions, the largest in Africa. Many other species of wildlife will also compete for your attention in this magnificent reserve.
For five days, we’ll fill your time and stimulate your expectations with the best parks and most exciting wildlife Tanzania has to offer.
What’s Cool About These Parks?
Not too many parks can show off thousands of pink flamingoes and tree-climbing lions. A visit to Lake Manyara Park will reward you with delightful surprises like these, plus stunning acacia woods alive with blue monkeys and baboons. All that wildlife and over 400 species of birds fill the skies above.
More interested in spotting elephants than tourists? Then add Tarangire Park to your safari itinerary. This much over-looked reserve supports thousands of big tusker elephants and is home to its own migration of over 250,000 herding wildlife!
The Ngorongoro Crater is a true wonder of the world. The planet’s largest intact volcanic caldera, this vibrant ecosystem is a universe unto itself with a density of over 25,000 animals. All of Africa’s “Big Five” are here in addition to gazelle, hartebeest, eland, warthogs, hippos and pink flamingoes. And the sunsets at the crater’s rim are not to be missed.
The great Serengeti National Park astounds with over 3,000 lions and other big cats. Perhaps even more spectacular is the uncountable array of wildebeests and zebra, filling its great plains. This is where the Great Migration is born – millions of animals amassing and then herding on in an endless formation in search of food and water – a most spectacular sight.

Day 1
Arusha – Lake Manyara (2 ½ Hour Drive )
OR: Start your safari at Tarangire Park (3 Hour Drive )
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
7:30 am: Wherever you are – hotel, residence, or airport, your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will be by to pick you up in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.
And then you’re off, taking in the fields and pastures of Maasai country and possibly the herders with their flocks of cattle as we head to Lake Manyara Park.
The pretty lake with its arresting pink flamingoes dominates the park but you’ll be looking for all sorts of other game here as well like blue monkeys and baboons.
And if you look upwards at the nearby acacia trees, you might just spot some large felines draped over the branches, relaxing in the sunlight. The park is known for this unusual sub-species of tree-climbing lions!
We’ll relax and compare stories on our first safari night at our Lake Manyara safari lodge or tented camp.
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
7:30 am: Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will be by your hotel, residence, or the airport to pick you up in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.
You should easily spot the elephants at Tarangire Park, home to about 3,000 of the great, noble creatures. You’ll also find antelope, over 500 species of birds, and possible sightings of the African wild dog.
But most amazing, the park is host to its own migration – over 250,000 animals trod through this lightly-touristed reserve.
We’ll spend our first safari night at our Tarangire safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 2
Lake Manyara – Serengeti (4 Hour Drive)
or
OR Tarangire Park – Serengeti (7 Hour Drive)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The safari life means rising early so we can enjoy the peaceful morning, with the sights, sounds, and smells of the new day, fresh and ready to be explored.
We’ll take a game drive to see who we can spot, enjoy our breakfast, and then make tracks for Serengeti National Park.
This will be a fun and scenic journey, stopping for lunch and taking in the surrounding scenery.
Arriving at Serengeti, you may be in awe of the vastness of its plains and its overwhelming wildlife. You won’t have to look for the wildebeests – they are everywhere, as are the zebra, impala, gazelle, and buffalo.
Tomorrow is a big day of game drives on the immense savannahs here, so we’ll rest up at our Serengeti accommodations, enjoy dinner and make plans for the adventure.

Day 3
Full Day at Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This will be a day of unlimited game drives. Just discuss with your driver/guide what areas of the park and which wildlife you are interested in.
The wildebeests are everywhere but you’ll also find plenty of big cats – the park supports over 3,000 lions, plus leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and more.
We’ll take a lunch break surrounded by the immense plains and all the wildlife it holds. You’ll quickly appreciate why the Serengeti is considered one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of Africa”.
The variety of game is striking as well, be on the lookout for baboon, monkey, and the rare African wild dog. In the park’s marshes, we’ll even find hippos and crocodiles in the nearby rivers.
We’ll spend a second night at our Serengeti safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 4
Serengeti – Ngorongoro
3 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Let’s get an early start as we’ve got lots to see and do today.
Heading for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we’ll make a fascinating detour stop along the way.
At Olduvai Gorge, the ground opens up before us, revealing fissures and strata that have given up an incredible wealth of fossilized artifacts – remnants of tools and bones – a visual record of early man’s development.
Then we’re headed to the great volcanic crater at Ngorongoro, the largest intact caldera in the world. We’ll drive down the steep banks of the crater’s walls in our 4 x 4, arriving in an almost mystical land dense with wildlife, woods, plains, and marshes.
We’ll spend our day here discovering lions, leopards, black rhinos, monkeys, antelope, zebra, elephants, and even pink flamingoes.
Then it’s lunchtime. Check out the marshes for hippos and still more birdlife. The Ngorongoro is never at a loss for providing colorful sightings.
But we’re not done yet. Toward evening, we’ll head back up the crater’s walls to the rim where we’ll catch one of Africa’s most breathtaking sunsets.
Tonight, our final safari night will be spent at our Ngorongoro accommodation.

Day 5
Ngorongoro - Arusha
3 ½ Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Here’s some motivation for an early rise – a stunning sunrise back at the crater’s rim. If you wish, we’ll arrive there in time to bathe in the sun’s first explosive rays.
But then it’s time to point our 4 x 4 back to Arusha. We’ll make rest stops along the way, enjoying our lunch and taking in the farms and scenery.
How much wildlife have you seen in the last five days? Uncountable, right? We love showing off the best of Tanzania to our guests and hope you return home with plenty of photos, memories, and stories to share. From everyone at Africa Kenya Safaris, thanks for your time and appreciation of our beautiful world of wildlife.
