What’s the best part of this all-inclusive safari tour? You don’t have to choose which of our exciting Tanzania parks to visit – you’ll see all of the very best!
Who hasn’t heard of the great Serengeti with its endless plains and uncountable animals? Not many parks can claim wildlife numbers in the millions, but at Serengeti, the numbers of wildebeests stretched out before you on the savannah will astound.
Everything about the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is brilliant – the deep colors of its landscapes, the density of its wildlife, and the magical nature of going into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Here, you are entering a new universe of experience, cut off from the rest of Africa.
Lake Manyara National Park defies expectations – imagine the cobalt blue of the lake set off by an immense feathery swath of bright pink flamingoes. And then, add on a rich green carpet of acacia forest holding monkeys and baboons, zebra, and eland. Anything else? Yes, tree-climbing lions!
Finally, our African safari adventure lands us at Tarangire National Park, home to over 3,000 elephants, complemented by immense and unusually bizarre baobab trees.
If you wish, you can substitute Lake Eyasi for Tarangire. Eyasi is home to several bushman tribes, living as they have for thousands of years. A visit here is a cultural window into another time and place.
This grand tour is a spectacle of landforms, spectacular wildlife, and indigenous cultures. We will cover it all over six adventure-filled days. Read on to learn more about this very complete safari journey.
What’s Cool About These Parks?
Did we mention the tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara? The park is known for this unusual sub-species, lazing about overhead on the acacia tree branches. Manyara is also home to over 400 bird species nesting in the trees and filling its colorful skies.
Everything about the Serengeti is immense, almost without limit. Over 3,000 lions grace its sweeping plains, the largest number of any park in Africa. It is here the wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle form the heart of the world’s greatest migration of wildlife – a timeless display of survival, moving in a seemingly endless train in search of water and taller grasses. It’s a spectacular sight, experienced nowhere else.
And for another unique experience, few parks can touch Ngorongoro. Consider this: it’s the world’s largest intact volcanic crater, home to over 25,000 animals, everything from lions to flamingoes, in a density of wildlife that ensures numerous sightings throughout our exploration into its deep reaches. Plus, the sunsets and sunrises at its crater rim are amongst the best in Africa.
Tarangire Park is especially delightful if you would rather see elephants than tourists, for the great pachyderms greatly outnumber its visitors in this sometimes overlooked reserve. What many don’t know is the park is home to its own mini-migration – zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, lions, and especially elephants herd into the park from July to October.
Have you ever met a bushman? Not many have but at Lake Eyasi you’ll be witnessing an ancient culture that has barely changed over the millennium. The Hadzabi bushmen are hunter-gathers, inhabiting this area for over 10,000 years. They are welcoming and you can join their daily life and rituals.

Day 1
Arusha – Lake Manyara
2 ½ Hour Drive
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
7:30 am: Let’s get this safari started – your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will pull up to your hotel, residence, or another place of your choosing, in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.
En route to Lake Manyara Park, we’ll be passing through Maasai country where we may spot the Maasai herders tending their flocks.
Get ready for the onslaught of colors that greets us at Lake Manyara – the cobalt alkaline lake, contrasting with vibrant flocks of feathery pink flamingoes, crowding its shores.
The deep greens of the park’s acacia forest hold all manner of wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, impalas, wildebeests, and active troops of baboons.
But it’s perhaps the tree-climbing lions that are a signature attraction of the park. You may spot them lazily napping way up on the branches of acacia trees, just waiting to have their picture taken.
We’ll enjoy our first safari evening at our Lake Manyara safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 2
Lake Manyara - Serengeti
4 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
What’s the secret to an active and fulfilling safari? An early rise. This is the time to see the big cats when the air is cool and the park is just starting to come alive into the new day.
We’ll take a game drive, enjoy breakfast and head out to the great Serengeti.
This will be a scenic and fun journey – we’ll stop to enjoy the countryside and also have a picnic lunch.
And then, we will come upon the vastness of the Serengeti, stretching out to the horizon. Upon it… immense numbers of wildebeests, zebra, and perhaps the greatest collection of lions in Africa.
We will have the opportunity for unlimited game drives to discover the Serengeti’s many surprises and varieties of wildlife including topi, hartebeest, and waterbuck.
Our first of two Serengeti evenings will be at our tented camp or safari lodge.

Day 3
Full Day at Serengeti
Full Day at Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
There is nothing like the quiet of the early morning and the soft sunlight upon the trees and grasses on this new day.
This is a time of unlimited game drives and we’ll explore the massive savannahs of the Serengeti, taking in the wildebeests, the zebras, and the big cats in their huge numbers throughout the park.
Should you be here during February/March you’ll be astonished by the scene unfolding before you: up to half a million wildebeests and zebras calving across the immense reaches of the Serengeti.
Just a few months later, from July through October, the now young calves, along with the adults of the herd form the heart of what’s known as the Great Migration – millions of herding grazers in long processions moving across the plains and into the Masai Mara in their timeless search for food.
While here, we will also explore other areas of the park, such as forest and marshlands, where we will look for hippos and crocodiles
We’ll spend our second Serengeti evening at our safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 4
Serengeti – Ngorongoro
3 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Up early again for another busy day – we’re headed for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
We’ll breakfast and set out in our private 4 x 4 Jeep, but along our route, we’ll make a stop at the world-famous Olduvai Gorge, perhaps the richest archaeological site on the planet. For here, the earth has opened up to provide a treasure trove of early humankind’s fossilized tools and artifacts, a veritable record of our ancient development.
Traveling on, we’ll come upon the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera of 263 sq km (101 sq mi), isolated from the rest of Africa. The world’s largest intact crater is its own universe of grassland, swamp, and woodlands, a dense habitat of tens of thousands of animals.
Our 4 x 4 Jeep will carefully negotiate the steep descent down the crater wall taking us to this magnificent ecosystem.
Every sort of wildlife inhabits this isolated world and we will be tracking for lion, leopard, buffalo, black rhino, zebra, antelope, and bird life such as pink flamingoes.
We’ll enjoy our lunch in this rich environment, marveling at the profusion of wildlife gathered in this special space.
Then as late afternoon approaches, we’ll head back up the crater wall for another African surprise, a signature Ngorongoro sunset.
Come evening, we’ll relax at our Ngorongoro accommodation.

Day 5
Ngorongoro - Tarangire (3 Hour Drive) OR
Ngorongoro – Lake Eyasi (2 Hour Drive)
3 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You’re experienced safari-goers now so you know the drill: up early to take in the quiet of the new day. In fact, if we’re up early enough we can head back to the crater’s rim for a spectacular sunrise.
And now we’re off to Tarangire National Park, a lightly-touristed reserve where the elephants outnumber the safari-goers, and that just makes it so much more fun.
Along with the elephants, we’ll take in the park’s bizarre baobab trees – with their heavy trunks and short branches they appear as if planted upside down!
This out-of-the-way park even features its own migration of buffalo, zebra, antelope, big cats, and more – over 250,000 animals herd through its forests and fields.
On this, final safari evening, we’ll relax, enjoy dinner, and swap stories of our adventures at our Tarangire safari lodge or tented camp.
2 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Let’s get ready for a most unusual day. Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadzabe people, one of the last hunter-gather tribes in Africa. Think of this adventure as a trip back in time.
We’ll stay overnight here and see closeup, how these ancient people hunt, gather fruit, and we’ll learn about their daily lives and rituals. You can even accompany them as they go about their activities and enjoy their traditional dances.

Day 6
Tarangire - Arusha
3 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Let’s get up early on our final safari day to enjoy the peaceful vibe in this special park. Our morning game drive will provide opportunities for last looks at the big cats, the zebras, rhinos, and of course, the elephants.
Soon, it’s time to begin our journey back to Arusha. We’ll have you back at your residence, hotel, airport, or another place of your choosing in the afternoon.
Or, from Lake Eyasi, we will journey back to Arusha.
Six days, four parks, and hundreds, if not thousands of our precious wild animals. We hope we’ve filled your mind and memory with unforgettable images, thoughts, and feelings from our incredible natural world. From everyone at Africa Kenya Safaris, thank you for your time, interest, and commitment to our special way of life!
