Every Saturday and Sunday
We’ll pick you up in style – in a shared pop-top 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep with guaranteed window seating!

- Nairobi
- Amboseli Park
Would you like guaranteed sightings of elephants in their natural environment? Then come with us to Amboseli National Park – famous as the best spot in Africa for spotting free-ranging elephants. Join other like-minded adventurers on this Africa Kenya Safaris value-based group safari.
This will be a busy day, so we’ll hit the road before sun rise. We’ll pick you up at 4:30 am for the drive to the park. Along the way you’ll awaken with the sun as it spreads over the countryside, shining upon the local farms and homesteads. Along our drive you may see the Maasai herders in their colorful shuka wraps, tending to their cattle.
Mt. Kilimanjaro will Guide Your Way
Heading toward the park, you’ll get your first glimpses of Africa’s tallest peak, 19,000-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro. The world-famous summit will be our beacon, rising ever higher as we approach Amboseli Park.
This will be a day of unbelievable elephant spotting but there’s so much other wildlife at this compact, yet busy reserve. You, your fellow safari adventurers, and your Africa Kenya Safari guide will also be tracking lion, giraffe, buffalo, impala, cheetah, and wildebeest.
We’ll take you on three game drives during your day at Amboseli – plenty of time and opportunity to appreciate the park’s wildlife as we safari over savannah, bush country, and through acacia forest. Get your safari jacket on – it’s going to be an exciting ride.

A Fast & Flexible Amboseli Trip
At AKS you write the rules. Travel and explore at your own pace in you own way. We’re fast, flexible, and always ready to respond to your requests. Book in advance or even the day before. We’ll get you out on safari – pronto!

Game Drive #1 Breakfast at Kilimanjaro
Finishing up our road journey on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, we’ll enter the park and take in parades of elephant families, strolling before the immense backdrop of great Mt. Kilimanjaro. It may look like a movie set but the natural scene before you is very real.
Get your phones and cameras ready – with its herds of wildlife and the imposing mountain framing the savannah, it’s hard to take a bad picture at Amboseli. If you’re lucky the cloud cover at Kilimanjaro’s summit may disperse revealing its famous snow-capped peak.
Hungry yet? We’ll take a break at nearby Ol Tukai Lodge to relax and settle in for a safari breakfast. Enjoy the park all around you, its vistas, plains, and perhaps some wildlife in the distance.
Stay Connected or Not. Your Choice.
We realize you’re on safari to get away from the usual. Still, there are times you may want to go online… perhaps to share your photos and adventures with friends. Our safari vehicles connect with Wi-Fi, about 75% of the time so you can usually connect when you want.
Game Drive #2 – It’s the Elephants
It’s now mid-morning and time to do some serious exploring. Amboseli is not a large park but this just makes the game more concentrated and easier to spot. Perhaps this is why the park is the second most popular in Kenya.
Besides its savannahs hosting hundreds of big-tusked elephants, the landscape here is complemented with swamps and marshland. In Africa, every eco-system is a chance to view more varieties of flora and fauna. In these wetlands look for pelicans, kingfishers, egrets, and raptors like falcons and eagles.
If you’re feeling a little car-bound, this might be a good time for a walk. We’ll go up to Observation Hill and get out to stretch our legs. Here you can get great views of the park’s plains and marshlands. Check out the elephants gathering below. Then look south to take in Kilimanjaro’s massive form watching over the park.
Amboseli is also home to the indigenous Maasai people. This is an opportunity to meet these local people and get a glimpse of their homes and lifestyle. If you wish we offer an optional visit to bring you into their circle to get an introduction to their community.

Game Drive #3 – Lunch & Beyond
Let’s take a lunch break – we’ve been going non-stop. The Amboseli Serena Lodge is a graceful accommodation and serves excellent cuisine. Relaxing here, you’ll enjoy views of Kilimanjaro and the park.
Ready for more adventures? We’ll hit the trail for our 3rd game drive. Toward mid-afternoon it’s not uncommon to find the elephants frequenting the marsh areas, so we’ll explore those regions for some final sightings. This could also be a chance to spot Kilimanjaro’s peak as the clouds may clear toward the evening.
As you know by now Amboseli is a celebration of wildlife, but don’t overlook the smaller mammals that make this vibrant habitat their home – keep an eye out for hyenas, foxes, jackals, monkeys, and baboons.
Want to see more of Amboseli? You can always arrange another visit with us as part of a longer safari, but for now, it’s time to hop into our Jeep for the trip back to Nairobi. There will be plenty of time on the drive to reflect on the day, check out your photos, and make plans for your next safari.
Just contact us at Africa Kenya Safaris to set up your Amboseli group getaway.
