TWO-DAY GROUP TOUR -OL PEJETA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Saving Rhinos and Chimps plus The Big Five
Starting from/returning to Nairobi area hotels, airport, or location of your choice.
Departing Every Saturday
We’ll pick you up in style – in a shared pop-top 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep with guaranteed window seating!
Make a difference and enjoy these special animals on your safari to Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary. This reserve is a celebration of Kenya’s efforts to nurture back to health our populations of black rhinos and delightful chimpanzees. A meaningful habitat, you’ll find the largest home of black rhinos in East Africa and, the only park in the country where you can see chimps in their natural setting.
Ol Pejeta offers you these special viewing opportunities, but the reserve is also home to Africa’s Big Five – lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, and of course, the rhinos. There are quite a few prides of lions found here, plus cheetahs and African wild cats.
So grab your safari gear and join up with other adventurers for this Africa Kenya Safaris value-based group safari.
What’s Cool About Ol Pejeta?
Quite literally, Ol Pejeta is a wonderland for animal viewing. In addition to the big cats, rhinos, and scampering chimps, the sanctuary is home to lots of unusual species. Ever hear of Grevy’s zebra, the bat-eared fox, or the black-fronted duiker? You’ll find them here along with the reticulated giraffe and white-tailed mongoose.
The reserve is also a brightly colored palette of natural habitats – riverine forest, bush country, grasslands, and even marsh – supporting a wide array of wildlife. And you’ll get to experience it all over your 2-day safari.
Another bonus: On your journey to the park you’ll not only pass lush coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations, you may be treated to views of the snow-capped summit of Mt. Kenya, the tallest peak in the country. And we’ll mark the moment when we cross the equator, moving from the southern to the northern hemisphere.
Join us for this fun, easy but adventurous tour to one of Kenya’s most interesting reserves. If you have any special wishes for your safari, please share them with us and we’ll work to make them happen.

Nairobi - Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary
3 - 4 Hours Drive
7:30 am. Get ready for adventure as you hop into your 4 x 4 Safari Jeep. As we travel through Laikipia County, we’ll be passing farms, coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations. We’ll pause to take in the lush fields and possibly visit a local market.
We will also spot Mt. Kenya along our route and stop to note our crossing of the equator between the hemispheres.
Ol Pejeta is celebrated for its enormously diverse wildlife. You’ll find endangered black rhinos in a specially protected sanctuary. Out on the plains we’ll be looking for lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and rare African wild dogs.
Other sightings in this unusual reserve – hippos, monkeys, baboons, impalas, gazelles, zebras, and hartebeests.
Known throughout East Africa, the park’s Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the only natural home in Kenya for rescued and orphaned chimps. Here they are nurtured back to health and then set free in a large but protected setting.
While at this busy reserve take advantage of several optional activities to fill out your experience. Visit the local Masai village for an encounter with these traditional herding people and learn about their culture and ceremonies.
Ever go on a night game drive? Not many safari-goers have but you can at this private reserve. It’s a very different journey traveling through the dark, inky night only to see the glowing eyes of a leopard staring back at you! Please check with your driver/guide to arrange either of these optional activities.
We’ll spend the evening at your tented camp where you’ll enjoy views of a nighttime watering hole and the wildlife that gathers there.
Ol Pejeta - Nairobi
You may be awakened by the early morning sounds of monkeys, chimps, or perhaps larger game like lions or elephants as they greet the new day. We’ll greet the day as well, taking a pre-breakfast game drive to see as many animals as possible under the dawning golden light.
Then, it’s breakfast time at our accommodation, with plans to track more big game throughout the morning.
Lunch follows with a last look at Ol Pejeta as we enjoy a final game drive exiting the park.
We’ll be back in Nairobi toward early evening and bring you to the place of your choosing.
As promised, this unusual sanctuary has gifted us with generous sightings of many types of animals. From the small and endangered to the great and mighty, Ol Pejeta is a wildlife treasure. We hope you enjoyed your journey and you’re ready for more! Please keep us in mind for that next big safari. From the entire team at Africa Kenya Safaris, a big thank you – Asante!
