Tsavo East & West Safari
Kenya's oldest and largest reserves - rolling hills, endless red-dirt savannahs, volcanic lava beds and lush green springs, with great populations of elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard, and rhino across the two "sister parks".
A study in contrasts across Kenya's venerable twin parks
These twin parks show off the best of Kenya's wildlands - rolling hills, great endless red-dirt savannahs, volcanic lava beds, and lush green springs. For 3 days we'll explore the Tsavo "sister parks", discovering the Big Five game as well as giraffe, impala, hartebeest, monkey, and baboon. The noble horned rhino is an endangered species and isn't found in many parks - at Tsavo West's Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, you'll be on the lookout for over 80 of these shy, but treasured creatures.
The Tsavo parks are nothing if not a study in contrasts - wild arid grassy plains fade into green hills, meeting the rich waters of the Mzima Springs oasis. Along its grassy and palm-laden shores, you'll be spotting hippos and crocodiles. The parks also offer surprising lookout points where you'll take in great stretches of sprawling landscape and even the snow-capped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Nairobi → Tsavo East National Park
6:00am: your driver/guide will pick you up at your Nairobi hotel, airport, or location of your choice. Climb into your private 4x4 Land Cruiser Jeep to start your safari along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway - we'll make rest and refreshment stops along the way and arrive at Tsavo East around noon.
The vistas that greet you will be immense - this is a park of big sky and endless savannah. We'll have lunch and then roll out to explore the park. On the great plains here you'll notice the rusty, red dust and the large herds of elephants that like to roll in it, giving themselves a rosy coat. We'll also head to the waterholes where the wildlife go to escape the park's arid environment - Aruba Dam and Mudanda Rock are river-fed locations that are great for elephant spotting. After a full day of game drives, it's time for dinner and relaxation at your safari lodge or tented camp.

Tsavo East → Tsavo West National Park
We're on safari time now - the birds and wildlife have probably woken you up early. Let's go for your first game drive of the day and take in the great park in the morning light, followed by a safari breakfast at your accommodation and more exploration, looking for buffalo, eland, impala, elephant, and of course, lion.
But we have another reserve to discover - sister park Tsavo West. During the quick drive there we'll be tracking for still more wildlife. Riding into Tsavo West, you'll immediately see that this park is greener and accented with rolling hills and foliage. We'll visit the water-fed oasis of Mzima Springs, a lush haven that is home to hippo, crocodile, exotic fish, and a big draw for the park's other thirsty wildlife - we can even leave our Jeep and explore the palm-embellished banks on foot. Spotting endangered rhinos is always a special safari moment - Tsavo West hosts the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, home to over 80 black rhinos. Relaxation and dinner will be at your Tsavo West accommodation.
