Booking Terms
How booking works
Deposits & payment
A deposit secures your safari dates once your itinerary and quote are confirmed, with the balance due ahead of travel. We accept secure online payments via Pesapal, as well as bank transfer — your Travel Advisor will confirm the exact schedule for your booking.
Changes & cancellations
Itineraries can usually be adjusted before final confirmation at no cost. Once lodges and vehicles are booked, changes or cancellations may be subject to the cancellation policies of individual accommodation providers, which we'll outline clearly before you pay your balance.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation and personal belongings for any safari, climbing or beach itinerary.
What to Pack
Travel light, dress for layers
A good packing list keeps you comfortable on game drives and avoids issues with flight safari baggage limits.
Clothing & Gear
Neutral-coloured, lightweight layered clothing; comfortable closed-toe shoes; a hat and UV sunglasses; swimwear for lodge pools; binoculars and camera gear; a reusable water bottle; and a headlamp or torch.
Documents, Health & Flight Safaris
Passport, visa confirmation and travel insurance details; personal medication, sunscreen and insect repellent; chargers and adapters. Pack as lightly as possible — light-aircraft flight safaris enforce strict luggage weight limits, usually around 15kg in a soft-sided bag.
4x4 Safari Jeeps
Well-maintained, purpose-built vehicles
Our safaris use 4x4 Land Cruisers fitted with pop-up roof hatches for unobstructed game viewing and photography, along with charging ports and cool-boxes for drinks and snacks.
Group joining safaris use shared vehicles with other small groups of travellers, while private itineraries are arranged with a vehicle and driver-guide dedicated to your party for the duration of the trip.
All vehicles are serviced regularly and carry safety and first-aid equipment, with drivers in radio contact with our operations team throughout your journey.
Visas
Entry requirements for Kenya & Tanzania
Most nationalities require an electronic travel authorisation or visa to enter Kenya and Tanzania — apply online before you travel.
Kenya eTA / eVisa
Kenya operates an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system. Applications are made online ahead of travel, with approval typically issued within a few days — apply well before your departure date.
Tanzania eVisa
Tanzania's eVisa can also be applied for online in advance, or in some cases on arrival. We recommend applying online ahead of time to avoid queues at the border or airport.
Visa requirements and fees change from time to time and vary by nationality — always confirm current requirements with the relevant government website or your nearest embassy before you travel. Our team is happy to share the latest guidance we have for your nationality.
Safari Lodges & Tented Camps
Choosing where you'll stay
Luxury safari lodges offer spacious rooms or suites, gourmet dining and full amenities, often with views directly over a waterhole or river — some even include private plunge pools.
Tented camps place comfortable canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms in prime wildlife locations, offering a more immersive connection to the bush while keeping the comforts of a proper bed and hot water.
Economy options are also available for travellers prioritising budget — simple, clean accommodation that still puts you close to the game drives.
Tell your Travel Advisor your preferred style and budget, and they'll shortlist properties that match across your chosen parks.

What types of safaris do you offer?
Classic game-drive safaris to Kenya's and Tanzania's most iconic parks, combined Kenya–Tanzania itineraries, beach extensions to Diani or Zanzibar, mountain climbing on Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro, and themed experiences such as migration safaris, bird watching, family, honeymoon and wellness trips.
What sets Africa Kenya Safaris apart?
Over two decades of experience and a team of Kenyan-born driver-guides and Travel Advisors who know these parks first-hand. Every itinerary is built around your interests, time and budget — and we keep a steady focus on responsible, community-first tourism throughout.
When is the best time for a safari?
Dry season (roughly June–October) — wildlife congregates around water sources and the Great Migration is typically in the Masai Mara.
Green season (roughly November–May) — lush landscapes, newborn animals, excellent birding, and often better accommodation rates.
