The Masai Mara National Reserve is considered the king of Kenya's parks, home to numerous prides of lion and all of the famous Big Five. Amboseli National Park is a dreamy place of soaring peaks, framed by Mt. Kilimanjaro and filled with stately parades of big-tusked elephants.

Nairobi → Masai Mara National Reserve
5:00am pickup for an early start, watching the African sunrise light up the new day. A breakfast stop in the small town of Narok, then on to the Masai Mara, arriving around mid-morning.
The park's rolling hills and iconic acacia trees open up before you - the richest ecosystem in the region. Your guide takes you to the best areas for lion, leopard, cheetah and the rest of the big game, with a picnic lunch amid the savannah. More game drives follow into the afternoon, with a colorful sunset as we head back to the lodge for dinner.

Full Day at the Masai Mara
An early morning game drive to take in the new day - during the Great Migration season (July-October) uncountable herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle cross into the Mara from the neighboring Serengeti.
We head down to the Mara River, site of the crossing, to view hippo and crocodile, with lion and cheetah also waiting for the herds. Optional hot air balloon safari and Maasai village visit available today.

Masai Mara → Amboseli National Park
A big journey day - up with the sun for an early departure from the Mara. We break up the trip with stops to admire the farmland and countryside, plus a lunch stop to rest and stretch.
You'll know we're nearing Amboseli when the towering spire of Mt. Kilimanjaro appears in the distance. We arrive in the afternoon, in time for an exploratory game drive among the park's free-ranging elephant herds, with the summit sometimes revealing itself through the clouds toward evening.

Full Day at Amboseli
The day is yours - go game driving or relax at your accommodation. An early morning drive tracks elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo and the rest of the park's big game.
More exploration follows at Observation Hill, a wonderful spot over the marshlands and their birdlife. Keep an eye on Kilimanjaro toward evening - its snowy peak may appear through the clouds for your fourth and final Amboseli night.

Amboseli → Nairobi
An easy pre-breakfast drive for any last sights, then breakfast at your accommodation surrounded by nature.
A final game drive, then off to Nairobi with a lunch stop en route - arriving at about 4:30pm, five full days and Kenya's two busiest parks behind you.
