Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet, hosts its own concentrated world of wildlife, and Lake Manyara National Park dazzles with thousands of flamingoes and its famous tree-climbing lions.

Nairobi → Amboseli Park
7:30am pickup to start a week of safari action. We head over African savannah, passing homesteads and into Maasai country, spotting herders with their cattle.
Arriving late morning, we freshen up and enjoy lunch at our accommodation, then head out on our first game drive - lion, giraffe, zebra, warthog, ostrich, buffalo and the park's famously plentiful elephant herds, all beneath the looming presence of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Full Day at Amboseli Park
Up with the birds for a pre-breakfast game drive through the awakening park, then more drives tracking elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino, antelope, gazelle and warthog.
A stop at Observation Hill to survey the park in all directions, with elephants at their watering holes below. Toward evening, Kilimanjaro's snow-capped summit may peek through the clouds just in time for sunset.

Amboseli Park → Lake Manyara (Tanzania)
A final pre-breakfast game drive tracking lion, leopard and grazers, then out of the park and toward Tanzania. At the border town of Namanga we complete immigration formalities, switch vehicles and meet our new Tanzania guide.
A rest and lunch stop in Arusha, then on to Lake Manyara - a small but attractive park known for its startling tree-climbing lions and dazzling flocks of pink flamingoes.

Full Day at Serengeti
A day of unlimited game drives across a park famous for its density of wildlife - an estimated 3,000-4,000 lions, and uncountable wildebeest and zebra.
This is where the Great Migration begins - the annual trek of millions of grazers moving on ancient instinct in search of food and water. Everything about the Serengeti is massive and awe-inspiring.

Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater
A final early morning Serengeti game drive, then on toward the Ngorongoro Crater - the planet's largest intact volcanic caldera, spread out before you at the rim.
We descend the steep crater wall by 4x4 into a colorful universe of big cats, rhino, buffalo, hippo, zebra and pink flamingo, with a picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Springs among the water birds.
